Meet Geraldine Goyer and Peter Ferreira
At the tender age of 5, Geraldine made her debut at the Alberta Ballet Company and eventually found her true love in Ballroom, Latin and Argentine Tango dance. Geraldine has enjoyed a successful competitive career in the Latin Division and now shares her time coaching others, performing and choreography for television and film, including "HIGHLANDER" the series and "PASSAGEWAY" for BRAVO.. No stranger to live
performance, Geraldine has danced Tango with "Tango Paradiso" and the "Armadillo String Quartet". She also performs with Pandora's Vox Vocal Ensemble. She has studied with Martin Harvey, and Lola Valair her mentor in Ballroom. Geraldine has worked with masters of Argentine Tango such as Carlos Gavito, Carlos Loyola, Julio Balmaceda, and Corina De La Rosa.
Geraldine is also a member of both the Canadian Dance Teachers Association and the Canadian Dance Federation, and is accomplished in the International and North American Styles of dance. She is passionate about the Tango, dancing with her partner Peter Ferreira and teaching this wonderful past time to all who want to learn.
Peter fell in love with Argentine Tango in 2004. He met Geraldine at a birthday party and, of course, they began to talk about dance.
Peter always wanted to try Argentine Tango lessons ever since seeing the True Lies Tango scene. However, the timing couldn't be worse because he was healing a broken Leg of all things! As he quickly learned; dance is great therapy for healing the body, Geraldine enthusiastically suggested just one lesson to see for himself. So, He agreed. He came. He stayed in a big way! Peter took to the Tango like he'd danced it all his life and Geraldine saw it too! People who see him dance can't believe Peter hasn't danced for years. It wasn't long before they were working together as partners - having danced their first performance in just six months!
Dance has changed his Life and Peter treasures working with the amazing dancer and teacher that Geraldine is. He truly feels like a Star both on and off the dance floor. Oh, and his leg feels great too!
