About Argentine Tango

The Passion and Depth of the Argentine Tango has it's origins in the Bordellos of Buenos Aires. European Immigrants practiced this dance, influenced by the melancholy music reflecting the mood of the era. Considered sexy and vulgar by the government, in the early 20th century, it was banned but not forgotten.
For many years Argentine Tango was kept alive by those who knew how beautiful it really was until it thankfully experienced a resurgence in the 80's with such productions as ‘Forever Tango’ and the renowned Tango scene in the Hollywood films 'True Lies' and ‘Scent of a Woman’. Tango is now one of the most popular dances in the world.

Sexy Moves

Tango has movements that are totally unique while dancing in its trademark close embrace. Movements such as Ganchos, Sacadas, Entradas, and Boleos in endless combinations really allow you to make Tango look and feel the way you want it to.

The music

From the classics written by artists like Carlos Gardel, Astor Piazzola, Osvaldo Pugliese to Nu Tango beats from Gotan Project, Bajofonda Tango Club, Otros Aires and many more, the music is cool and fresh. More artists are experimenting with Tango beats all the time. The beats are so danceable that you will see people dancing Swing and Latin dances like Salsa and Cha Cha when we play it at our Le Club Tango parties. It is really popular with our students and party goers.
